    Story

Until July 2012 Rachel was living a normal life. Rachel was excited about was the arrival of her first baby. When her leg became swollen three weeks before she was due to give birth, Rachel couldn’t have anticipated how dramatically her life was about to change. As she gave birth to her beautiful daughter, an undetected blood clot travelled to her heart causing an attack. For 20 minutes the crash team fought to bring Rachel back to life and succeeded however being without oxygen and blood for so long caused Rachel to suffer a hypoxic brain injury, specialists braced the family for the worst and gave Rachel just 2-hours to live. But Rachel is a fighter, and surpassed the doctors expectations, surviving the first two hours, the following 24-hours and throughout the emergency surgery to rectify the complications of the cesarean section. Although this was great news, Rachel’s future was fragile and she remained in a medically induced coma for ten days. Doctors prepared Rachel’s family for the worst and were told that if she did wake-up she would be left with a serious brain damage and would need 24-hour care.
All of this was the backdrop of little Freya’s entrance into this world. What should have been a magical time, with lots of cooing and taking it in turns to hold the baby, was nothing short of a nightmare for the Harry family. After three months in Wrexham Hospital and eight months at Clatterbridge Brain Injury Rehabilitation Rachel was ready to come home. Since this point, the NHS could not continue to rehabilitate Rachel to her full potential, Private Physiotherapy has been self funded and is continuing to make positive steps with Rachel fulfilling goals previously thought to be impossible such as sitting, standing and communicating.
All proceeds go towards Rachel's Rehabilitation and her continuing progress.

Not only is Rachel my friend but she used to be my hairdresser! Since Rachel's life changed in 2012 Rachel hasn't done my hair BUT that is about to change! I've been growing it for 3 years and in August she is going to cut 12inches off and donate to the Little Princess Charity.
