Story
At the end of 2020, 12 year old Ashton Hulme was diagnosed with a rare type of bone cancer in his fibula bone in his calf. This is known as Osteosarcoma, a rare cancer which affects only 50 children in the UK every year. Ashton lives for sport, he loves Stoke City F.C. and is an extremely talented goalkeeper signed to Crewe Alexandra F.C. as well as a keen cricketer. Although this diagnosis has been a huge blow to Ashton and his family, they are facing this obstacle in the only way they know, head on with amazing positivity!
But, since the news that Ashton has had an amputation in a bid to stop the cancer, fundraising has taken on a whole new meaning. Ashton will need a knee, lower leg and foot replacement. Like most 12 year olds Ashton is very active and due to his love of sport you can expect to pay anything from £40-£60k for a prosthesis that will give Ashton the most natural range of movement. There is also a life long cost of maintaining and replacing your prosthetics as the more active you are the more ‘wear and tear’ there will be on your prosthetic, therfore the need for more regular replacements.
All donations will go towards making Ashton’s journey a little lighter and to support this amazing and inspiring young man in his bid to get back on his feet and back in goal for Crewe Alexandra F.C.
