Story

In light of this global pandemic, many not for profit community gyms and sports clubs very much like ourselves, will be suffering financially due to the social distancing guidelines set out by the government.

Hakuda Gym Muay Thai, is a Thaiboxing gym that has been established in the heart of Burnley for well over 10 years. Kru Dave Burley, the head coach at the gym has ensured that the doors are open to people in the community from various backgrounds. Delivering public classes, 1-2-1 sessions, work with schools and PRU's, community groups, working with vulnerable people and on schemes with women who have suffered from domestic abuse.

We have always relied heavily on training fees to cover the majority of the rent and bills needed to keep the gym open, alongside Dave, we have 3 instructors who teach classes all on a voluntary basis. Due to Dave's good nature there have been many cases where members of the gym and the community have been going through hard financial times that training fees have been wavered for those individuals, This has meant many times Dave dipping into his own pocket to cover those bills.

With the gym doors now firmly closed and the level of uncertainty as to when they may again re-open, without training fees there is zero income to cover the cost of the rent and bills. Conversations have taken place with the landlord and these bills must still be covered.

This page has been set up to give something back to a person and a local gym that gives so much opportunity to people in our community, so that when all this is over, we can continue to do so.

We know, during this time there is a high level of uncertainty when it comes to your own financial status, especially you guys that are self employed and those on low income, but we absolutely appreciate any amount of donation, however small. If you cant help directly, all we ask is you share this page as far and wide as you can to help us reach as much of our goal as possible.

Any help is much appreciated and we thank everyone who supports us in advance,
