    Story

At Haltwhistle First School we want to make learning irresistible and exciting every day! Our next project is the creation of an Invention Shed in collaboration with the House of Objects, giving our children their own dedicated space to think creatively, design and construct their own ideas.

The video below explains the aims and approach of this project:

As one of the first schools in the country to have access to this unique approach, our children will be able to benefit in the following ways:

    Hands-on learning improves engagement

Meaningful context inspires literacy and numeracy

Child directed projects boost self-esteem, improve creativity and cultivate curiosity

Small group environment promotes team work and communication skills

Use of household tools gives practical skills children can practice at home

Home-school recycling project supports parental engagement

Frameworks and training boost staff confidence in applied STEM teaching

New and challenging materials improve critical thinking skills

Help us to bring our project to life and create amazing experiences for the children of Haltwhistle by supporting this project.

    Thank you to:

Haltwhistle Freemasons for their generous pledge of £100

... this brings our target down to £10400
