Story

I never imagined I’d be writing another post like this, especially just two days after celebrating 2 years in rescue.

Today, I’m asking for help for my beloved Harley’s Angels Hull, and most importantly, for one very special foster floof: Mr Hamilton, aka Ham.

We have been quoted between £1,000–£2,000 for Ham’s surgery and treatment, and as a rescue that is only just coming up to a year old, this has hit us incredibly hard. Despite having amazing support, guidance, and advice from seasoned rescue veterans, we’ve recently taken in so many poorly cats, mums, and kittens. Somehow, we always find a way through… but right now we are at a critical point.

We are struggling to raise enough funds not only to keep our doors open, but to cover Ham’s urgent surgery and aftercare.

As many of you know, cat rescue quite literally saved my life, living with mental and physical health conditions. I love what I do with my whole heart, but today I feel completely heartbroken and defeated.

Here’s Ham’s story. ❤️

We received a call asking if we could take him in after he was found with no owner and a badly dislocated leg. With veterinary guidance, we made the decision to have him neutered while under anaesthetic and have the leg put back into place.

Ham then came to stay with me because he needed round the clock care and up to 6 weeks of crate rest. We were warned from the start that the leg could dislocate again, and if it did, amputation would likely be the only option.

Despite everything, Ham has been absolutely incredible. He has handled it all like a little champion. We had slowly started allowing supervised time out of the crate to help rebuild his strength and give him a chance to de stress because honestly, he is the sweetest love bug with people.

Unfortunately, yesterday his leg came back out completely, and he was in so much pain. He stayed overnight at the pet hospital, and today our handsome boy will become a tripod.

Even though I know there was nothing more we could have done, the guilt still hurts. His joint was simply too weak, and this was always a possibility… but that doesn’t make it any easier.

Ham will come back to recover with me, where he’ll receive all the love, care, and support he needs while he adjusts to his new life.

Today, I’m asking for help to raise £2,500. This will cover:

• Ham’s surgery and hospital treatment

• Ongoing medication and recovery care

• Emergency and unexpected veterinary costs

• Continued care for the cats currently in our rescue

Any funds left over will go directly back into helping the cats in our care.

As rescues, we never want to close our doors but sometimes we have to pause intake just to make sure we can continue giving the best possible care to the animals already relying on us.

If you can donate, share, or even just leave some support for Ham, it would mean the world to us. Every single £1 truly makes a difference.

Thank you so much to everyone who has supported us, guided us, and stood beside us on this journey especially the rescue veterans who continue to help us learn and grow. We appreciate you more than words can say. ❤️
