Story

Hana Panek has been selected to represent the Town and Warwickshire County at the most prestigious Scouting event - the World Scout Jamboree (WSJ). The first WSJ took place in London in 1920, and now takes place every 4 years. The 24th World Scout Jamboree 2019 will take place from 22nd July to 2nd August 2019 at the Summit Bechtel Reserve in West Virginia and is being run as a team effort by the Scout organisations in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Around 40,000 Scouts from almost every country in the World will join together. The World Scout Jamboree is an educational event that brings together the world’s young people aged 14-18 years old. For 10 days, young people work together to find out about each other’s cultures and faiths, learn new skills, take part in adventurous activities and grow as global citizens to tackle some of the biggest issues facing the world today. The Scouts have a huge challenge of raising £3550 each in order to attend. This cost covers travel, equipment, food as well as a proportion going to Scouts in lesser developed countries who without our support would be unable to attend.

Hana has already been working extremely hard to raise the funds by selling cakes, running a quiz night with friend, bag packing at local supermarkets, selling her hair (yes, she had it cut short!) and now taking part in a Scout Jamboree sponsored cycle ride. The Sponsored Cycle Ride will take place on Sunday 24 June, incorporating Leamington Spa and many of the surrounding villages.

Thank you very much for reading this, and supporting Hana in her fundraising efforts.
