Story
Hand in Hand for Oscar
They say everything can change in a blink of an eye, that undoubtedly is a quote so very true. This moment arose for us on the 28th December 2018, the day we received the most unimaginable news which changed our lives forever. We were truly devastated to be told Oscar had T- cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia and he was admitted to Birmingham Children's Hospital straight away following an abnormal blood test that showed platelets as low as 14! Since then Oscar has followed a rigorous protocol of intense chemotherapy in order to terminate the leukemia blasts in his blood.
However, after four weeks of induction treatment we received even more heartbreaking news that Oscar will need a stem cell transplant as the leukemia he has is too aggressive to treat with just chemotherapy.
We broke completely, we shed tear after tear, we fell into each others arms damaged and inconsolable. We felt like we could not see light at the end of the tunnel, but when looking at Oscar's cheeky smile, bravery and determination we managed to pull our strength together again. From that moment of fear and confusion, we as a family, became stronger than ever! Oscar reminded us how to fight again and just how courageous he is. Not once has he shown weakness, nor has he ceased to amaze us throughout the most difficult times and that to us is a true warrior!
Oscar is a fun, loving, energetic 5 year old boy who deserves to live to the full alongside the other troopers fighting such horrific diseases. Not only does he need to enjoy a normal life a child should live, he now needs someone else to save him.
This page will update you with our little champs inspirational progress, the support around him and any additional awareness of childhood cancer! ❤️
Thank you,
Written by Mum - Olivia Saxelby.

5 years agoThe heartbreaking news that there is no further curative treatment for Oscar available on the NHS means that we have no other choice but to desperately and urgently seek your help once again to save Oscar. Oscar desperately needs in the region of £500,000 to access treatment in Singapore. Oscar has an Army of supporters who love and support him and his family. Together we can do this xx You can donate here or at https://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/fundraiser-display/showROFundraiserPage?userUrl=HandinHandforOscar&pageUrl=1&isTeam=true
