Story
Hi my name is Harrison i was born on the 12.9.2018
My mummy and daddy found out in january 2018 that i was going to be growing in my mummies tummy, over the moon they were but scared and nervous as i was about to change their lives
At my mummies 17 week scan, she saw me wriggling around happily kicking away, then suddenly my mummy found out information no parent should have to hear. They told her i had a problem with my heart and my mummy would need to be refered to Southampton hospital to have further scans.
When she saw DR Bharucha they confirmed i had the following:
Double outlet right ventricle
Right aortic arch
Atrioventricular septal defect
Left artrial isomerism
AVSD
VSD
Isomerism 1 in 10,000 babies have this i got unlucky but i do have 2 left lungs...
Unfortunately i would need a few operations in my life to correct this.
When my mummy gave birth to me on the 12.9.2018 she had a pretty traumatic birth, but having me in her arms made this worth while. We even manged to go home after a week as i was doing so well.
As the weeks went on i was going downhill, i was sleeping all the time which this may sound great but my mummy and daddy wanted to play and interact with me but i was too tired,
I gave my mummy a huge scare on the way to hospital one day i became unresponsive in my car seat, she was trying to wake me but i was blue and floppy she had to call 999...
The next 7 weeks i spent in hospital, had 3 surgeries, was ventilated 3 times due to pulmonary hypertension. i also suffered a peri arrest! (Part of my heart stopped) i gave my family a huge scare. My family even had to see my chest open
The 3rd operation worked they put a pa band on my pulmonary artery to control the amount of blood flow to my lungs. This should last until june time when i have my full operation.
My mummy and daddy spent the whole 7 weeks in hospital, i definately gave them grey hairs.
Overall at the moment i am due another operation in june hoping this is my last...
