I will be cutting 8 inches of my hair off to donate to the Little Princess Trust in order to raise money for my Nursing Elective to Sri Lanka! I have grown my hair for years, so cutting it hasn't been an easy decision. I'm sure that anyone who knows me well will associate me with my extremely long hair; so this will be a huge change! I will attach some photos so you can see how long my hair is.

My 8 inches of hair will be donated to the Little Princess Trust, an amazing charity set up by two parents after loosing their little girl to Wilms Tumour - a type of kidney cancer. The charity makes wigs for little boys and girls who have lost their hair following treatment such as chemotherapy, helping the children to feel like little princesses/princes again. Children's cancer is extremely close to my heart following my training and the many learning opportunities that I have received.

I am flying out to Sri Lanka in February 2017 to nurse children in a hospital in a town called Kandy. I will be spending 4 weeks in the hospital, nursing children with a variety of conditions and diseases - many of which are not common in the UK. I am hoping to reach as many people as possible, nursing children and their families back to health and providing aid where it is needed most. This trip is going to be extremely emotionally challenging, where I will experience many eye opening experiences. I am hoping to further strengthen my passion for nursing, using some of the excellent skills that I have learnt so far in my training. The trip is costing £2500+ before spending money and extra resources/supplies which I am hoping to take with me.
