Don't have time to donate right now?
You feel helpless, overwhelmed and frustrated every time you hear how our consumption habits are being detrimental to our own health and to our planet? Then we have at least this in common.
Imagine yourself being an active part of a life-changing solution that would benefit you and the entire planet from the start to the end, a consumption process that has benefited the environment from which your product was sourced and all the people who were involved in bringing them to you.
I am an environmental biologist who is passionate about bringing forth life-transforming changes that have helped completely transform my own life (from a place of seeking the momentary pleasure of shopping that fades away so quickly you find yourself with a bunch of useless things you want to get rid of and you wonder what you could have used your money on instead, to an authentic, deep connection to the things around you that really are what matter most). As a wildlife conservation biologist, my “9 to 5” job was already fulfilling and noble but I want to have a greater impact on our planet, and you can be part of it too. I believe in addressing the problems from their roots.
Did you know that currently in the United Kingdom, only around 30% of your recyclable wastes are actually recycled, this means roughly 1 Million Tonnes of garbage dumped into landfills, used to generate electricity or basically dumped into our natural spaces? But also, recycling is for many reasons not ideal at all for our environment. Plus, on average a British family spends £700/year on food that will never be eaten?
At Pink-Dolfins, we want to be a misery-free, zero-waste alternative to traditional supermarkets that empowers you to be in control of what you buy (we won’t be selling the exact same thing packaged differently in quantities you have not really chosen), knowing that it is also making a difference to your health and well-being but also to all creatures and natural spaces on our planet. We also will dedicate a large part of our profits to charitable organisations once well-established since money is for us only a medium to create the change we wish to see in the world.
From having healthier options like non-dairy mylks (in glass bottles you can return to our store) to bulk spices, herbs, cereals, grains, dried fruits to cosmetics and cleaning products, to innovative items that will help you in your journey to less wasteful and more deeply fulfilling consumption habits. We also have at heart to help reduce food waste, so our fresh produce will not be calibrated to the nearest millimetre like in traditional supermarkets and we want to encourage you to not throw food away by also having a People’s Fridge where absolutely everyone will be most welcome to serve themselves from. We will also have delicious ready-made food made by talented chefs that’s made with innovative, entirely compostable packaging for those of you who are too busy to cook but still want to enjoy healthy, quality food that has not contributed to destroying the planet in the process. In addition, we want to encourage budding artists by displaying their works of art and holding concerts in our premises. We want our space to be a space where positive vibes, well-being and authenticity are key and where people’s differences are celebrated and social barriers are nonexistent. After all, aren’t we so fundamentally similar despite our differences?
We want to help both you and the planet to be and feel healthier by giving you all the necessary tools and advice to have healthier consumption habits that will also in the process help transform your life and bring you deeper, more authentic experiences. Do you not wonder what else you could do with £700? So even if our planet’s well-being is not amongst the top priorities in your life, think about the long-term health and economic benefits those changes will have on you.
To help us bring this common dream to life, you can donate however much pleases you. And, remember there is no such thing as a too small contribution.
The funds raised will go for:
Basic decoration: Flooring, painting, electric work.
Stalls and seatings
P.O.S terminals and weighing systems and other electrical appliances (ex: fridges).
First stock of non-food items.
We thank you immensely for your generous donations we promise that this is just the start and that we will constantly be on the lookout for ways to keep improving so as to help you live a life that has as low a negative impact as possible and as big positive impacts as possible.
