Story

The Blurt Foundation is a charity which is really close to my heart. I wasn't always the bubbly, happy person that people see me as today. It's been quite a journey getting here. One day, whilst I was struggling through the boggy mire of negative thinking and low moods, a friend of mine sent me the "Hero" postcard made by the Blurt Foundation. In case the picture isn't quite clear enough, it says: "A Hero is an individual who finds the strength to persevere and endure in spite of overwhelming obstacles." The words resonated with me at the time as I did feel like a little bit of a warrior trying to battle through my own self-doubt. Somehow, the words gave me a little bit more strength and courage to pursue the dream of reaching the light at the end of the tunnel. I asked my friend where she got the card and this was when I first really found out about The Blurt Foundation. I read a lot of their blog and social media posts which were all about helping people understand depression and supporting recovery. The Blurt Foundation do so much good work from creating inspiring and motivational cards, posters, books, and online articles to their unique "Buddy Boxes" which are sent out to so many people in an attempt to cheer them up on their bad days, help them carry on, and, most importantly, remind us we are not alone. The best present that anyone could give me this year would be to help The Blurt Foundation reach out to more people in need of support and teach others how to support those struggling with depression.
