Story
On June 16th 2019, Richard Lynch suffered a cardiac arrest at home, Richard was given the best possible chance because those around him were CPR trained.
Help took over 19 minutes to arrive and during that time Richards wife and neighbour performed CPR and used the nearest AED to do all they could until the professionals could help.
Richard was 43 years old, married with 2 children. He was considered a normal, healthy man with no known heart or health issues.
On June 17th, Richard died at Coventry hospital with his family around him.
The CPR given and the use of the AED gave Richard time and a chance.
Around 75 percent to 80 percent of all out-of-hospital cardiac arrests happen at home, so being trained to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) can mean the difference between life and death for a loved one.
Effective bystander CPR, provided immediately after cardiac arrest, can double a victim’s chance of survival.
CPR helps maintain vital blood flow to the heart and brain and increases the amount of time that an electric shock from a defibrillator can be effective.
YOU can make a difference!!!
When Richard died, a fundraiser was set up in his memory and his wife decided to use this to purchase another AED. After the village AED was used, it was out of action for one month - if anyone else suffered a cardiac arrest in this time there would have been no AED there for them. In addition to that, FREE community CPR classes are already being offered in Richards memory with 7 booked to date and more to follow.
We would like to continue to raise funds to install more AEDs where needed and to continue to run free classes for the community so that if someone needs your help, you know what to do.
Any excess funds will be donated to charity.
The original fundraiser raised just over £1900, lets keep going and save as many lives as we can.
Thank you
