Story

Harlyn is raising £4,000 for a child friendly beach buggy wheelchair. (Plus padded insert, safety straps & pull rope)

This will be available for all the children in our local area/ children’s hospice to enjoy some fun & ocean therapy.

Since being Diagnosed with DIPG, an aggressive brainstem tumour, which is both inoperable and incurable, Harlyn’s life has changed dramatically. She is now nearly 14 months post diagnosis. The average prognosis is just 8 - 12 months.

Harlyn suffered a stroke in June this year, which caused her to lose the use of the right side of her body.

The beach & water are her happy place but it is incredibly difficult to get her standard wheelchair across the sand. We find ourselves restricted to just a handful of accessible beaches. Even these, we have to tip and drag her chair backwards!

Beach wheelchair hire is practically impossible and the chairs available are not designed for children/ do not have the straps or support needed for children who are unable to sit unsupported. They are generally made as ‘one size’ for both adults and children.

We have found a company who do make chairs that are designed specifically for children. A padded chair insert & straps can be purchased at an additional price. The chairs collapse into a carry bag, so can be used at any beach! They are also designed to go into the water itself.

We would love to get our little people back on the beaches and enjoying the water ❤️

Please Help Harlyn with her project 🫶🏼

Thank you
