Story
Hello everyone,
We are raising £1,000 for our Burial & Making Memory Boxes,
Firstly thank you for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
The sun is shining today, and our hearts feel a little lighter knowing that families are finally able to choose how they want to say goodbye. Whether it’s selecting a burial gown or joining one of our online workshops, every choice gives parents a moment of gentle control during an unimaginably painful time. Each month, we run a ten‑day workshop to support parents who have endured the loss of a baby or child. This allows us to be there as soon as tragedy occurs, and for many, during their chosen burial or service.
For babies born under 24 weeks, we provide—free of charge—our beautiful Burial Boxes, which include gowns, forever beds, special keepsakes, and a small casket or urn for when baby is returned from the hospital. These are placed inside our larger personalised Making Memory Boxes, giving parents a safe and tender space to create memories for up to one year after their little one has passed.
We know from lived experience how much families endure in those first weeks/months. The grief cycle can turn their world upside down, which is why we run our Well‑Being Workshops—a gentle space to guide, support, and signpost. We have delivered these workshops for over five years, and due to increasing demand, they are now held monthly rather than quarterly. It has been incredibly heart‑warming to see parents and families recognise the work we do and actively use these services.
Our entire team is made up of volunteers. No one is on a wage. Every person who works directly with families has lived experience of baby or child loss and has completed Level 3 Bereavement & Counselling accredited training. We work closely with healthcare professionals to ensure parents have a voice in shaping change within their local communities. Many families even return to their hospitals to donate one of our NHS Boxes—each supporting up to 50 families with burial items and special keepsakes in their baby’s name.
All of our support, workshops, and items are completely free of charge. Our volunteers do what they do in memory of their own little ones. They understand the need for special keepsakes, and most of all, what it feels like to be alone. Many have challenged their local systems to ensure parents of tiny babies receive choices equal to those offered after 24 weeks’ gestation.
With over 100 volunteers across the four nations, we are proud to serve the baby and child loss community. But with rising demand, we are asking our followers, parents, and supporters to help us with items from our Amazon Wishlist. Each family we support costs a minimum of £50 —covering burial items, memory boxes, workshop materials, handmade outfits, keepsakes, and forever beds. Postage costs have increased year by year, and Special Delivery is often required when sending items quickly to NHS hospitals and funeral directors.
We are entirely self‑funded. We do not receive government contracts or funding. Our team creates special handmade items through Making Memories Handmade, and all profits support our community projects and the work we do within the baby and child loss community. May we take this opportunity to thank you for your continued support and kindness.
If you are able to support us with funds or items for our projects, it would mean the world. Thank you for your continued kindness. Because of you, we are able to offer parents dignity, choice, and the ability to say goodbye to their baby in the way every parent should—regardless of age, ethnicity, or culture.
