Story

This is Harri Cooke, he is a fun-loving, full-of-life nearly 4 year old.

Life as he knows it, and that of his Mum Carly, Dad James and baby brother Joshua, has just been completely turned upside down with the devastating diagnosis of a Ewing’s Sarcoma (large cancerous tumour) behind his eye and nose. He now faces months of chemotherapy to shrink the tumour as much as possible. When this is over, and if Harri responds to these chemo drugs, due to the location and nature of the tumour it will most likely be followed by Proton Beam Therapy rather than surgery to remove all the remaining cancerous cells in the summer.

Of course at this stage nothing is certain but it is highly likely that the Proton Beam Therapy for Harri will take place over in Florida. The treatment and travel will be funded by our wonderful NHS however as it stands Harri’s Dad James will be unable to travel with them. The treatment will take three months and the Cookes won’t be able to afford for him to take that amount of time off work. Obviously at a time like this Carly and James would prefer to keep the family together as a unit to support each other and Harri.

The purpose of this crowd funding is two-fold; a response to all the wonderful friends and family who have reached out since Harri’s diagnosis wanting to help him and his family in some way with things they might need over the coming months while he’s so poorly. Secondly, it would be amazing to be able to raise enough money to cover the family’s cost of living for the three months that they will need to be abroad so that they could afford James to take a sabbatical from work during that time to join them without worrying about the financial impact.
