I've raised £3500 to fund a volunteer project in China

For more than two years I have been a volunteer at Washington Riding Centre for the Disabled. I volunteer every Sunday and the work involves leading the horse and rider during lessons, ensuring the riders are safe, filling hay nets, grooming, and mucking out. It can be hard work but my role as a volunteer is very rewarding and I love being able to give people the same opportunities I have had as a rider.
Recently, I decided to take my volunteering to the next stage by applying to do voluntary work on a school trip in Zambia. The purpose of the trip was to engage young children in sports activities. Unfortunately, I was not successful and did not make it to the final stage of the application process. However, this is only a minor setback in my opinion. Instead, I have chosen to independently volunteer in China with Projects Abroad.
The 4 week project is based in Chengdu, China and is split into two sections. The first section is based around the conservation of one of the world’s most endangered species: the panda. I will be involved in preparing food, cleaning out enclosures, and studying the behaviour of the panda. The second section involves working at a care centre for children. I will be helping staff to give the children a basic education, develop their social skills, and improve their overall quality of life.
I need to raise approximately £3,500 to fund the trip. This fee goes to the charity that organises many volunteer projects around the world (Projects Abroad).
I would like to thank Active Windows & Doors Ltd (http://active-windows.co.uk) for sponsoring me and everyone in advance for any support they are able to give.
