Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered charity.
The page owner is responsible for the distribution of funds raised.
In 2018 I will be boarding a plane to Sri Lanka to undertake a 12 week voluntary Level One Mental Health Placement abroad with SLV- a UK based organisation that provides students and undergraduates with hands-on work experience abroad in the mental health sector in ethical and sustainable ways.
This exciting and challenging placement will give me crucial skills I need to take the next steps to studying Psychology at university. I will be involved in projects working with individuals with special needs, teaching English in the community to children aged 3-12 and young adults aged 17-25 as well as helping those who are struggling with mental health issues on their way to recovery.
I will be running project activities, working in a team with other volunteers and using skills learnt from the training I will receive to work in under-resourced centres. I will be working 5 days a week living like a local, traveling on local transport and staying with a Sri Lankan family in order to become fully emersed in the wonderfully colourful and vibrant community.
If you are able to donate in any way, your contribution would be greatly appreciated as you help me towards this incredible opportunity.
