I've raised £2000 to renovate an iconic nature tableau depicting the animals and insects inhabiting the idilic countryside around Pewley Down, Guildford.

In essence, this project is about paying homage to the past - by ensuring that the educational joy bestowed upon, and shared by, the many ramblers who have paused awhile at this nature tableau, continues to do just that for generations to come.
From as far back as I can remember, before high-tech TV screens and monitors came to dominate our visual horizons, whenever I was out walking along this section of the North Downs, I would eagerly look forward to see this hand-painted depiction of the various flora and fauna that buzzed, sung, grew and scurried all around me…
It was a great source of information.
And, as time went on, comfort in the fact that though much in life had succumbed to soulless digitisation, this small piece of installation-art remained quixotically human in all its simple glory…
Sadly, as is its wont, time has started to leave its oh so familiar calling card – the paint has lost its original lustre and the wooden back panels have started to bow and deform.
What this project would like to achieve is to replace the old painting with one that holds as faithfully as possible to the original, but also includes a few minor updates.
