I’m Harry, a 15 year old student attending Burnt Mill Academy in Harlow.

In the summer of 2017 I have an amazing opportunity to go on an expedition to the country of Peru. The school is running this expedition in conjunction with Camps International. The trip lasts for a total of 28 days including a 5 day trek through an Inca trail to the ancient ruins of Machu Picchu. The majority of our time will be spent helping the local communities in construction projects and with the deduction of local children. The aim of this expedition is to provide aid to those less fortunate, build upon our skills and develop ourselves as people and in general to partake in this once in a life time opportunity. As well as this I will get the chance to earn 70 UCAS points which will prove vital in entrance into further education.

All students taking part must use funding raise activities to raise the money to pay for the trip. The trip to Peru costs £4170 with a further £500-£1000 required for supplementary supplies and equipment. The school and Camps International see the fund raising as an integral part of the overall experience. Over the next 18 months I will be taking part in various fund raising activities and events.
