Story
Harry worked extremely hard for his GCSEs and gained 3 A grades in Biology, Physics and Chemistry. He is now at Ringwood Sixth Form, loving it and incredibly motivated and studying harder than I thought possible. The change of scenery has done him good.
Ringwood Sixth Form has offered a trip of a lifetime for the A level Physics students to visit CERN, the sub-atomic particle research centre in Geneva, Switzerland. Harry's grandfather Anthony Eastwood helped to build CERN in the 60s and I (his mum) was born in Geneva during this time. I also spent some of my teenage years in Geneva as Harry's grandfather was posted back there to continue working. CERN has always been part of Harry's heritage and this would be a fantastic opportunity for Harry to enlarge his basic knowledge of particle physics as well as visiting the accelerator that his grandfather helped to build and maintain.
The trip involves seeing the cutting edge research in action, touring the facilities and talking to physicists working on the latest sub-atomic particle research projects.
£400 covers his flights, insurance, all travel in Geneva, water taxis, accommodation, food, entry and tour of CERN and its exhibition as well as entrance to the Museum of Natural History. Any small amount would be gratefully received. Thanks Wendy

7 years agoThank you friends and family and those unknown and anonymous people who've donated. The trip is looming and we went to a pre-trip meeting last week to find out about the itinary. Friday will be spent travelling to Geneva with trams from the airport to the hostel and a group meal out in the evening. Saturday will be spent at CERN having a guided tour, looking at the magnets, talking to the physicists and absorbing as much as possible in a short space of time, including having lunch in the CERN canteen, where my dad used to eat his lunch!
