Story

On 7th September 2018 I will be cycling the whole of the Cotswold Way in two day, from Bath Abbey to Chipping Campden, a total distance of 100 miles. I will also be adding in diversions to Bath Rugby Stadium, The Rec and to Gloucester Rugby Stadium, Kingsholm .

This will be to help fundraise a Think Pacific Volunteering Project to Fiji in June 2019 when I will be living within a Fijian village community for one month with a team of approximately 20 volunteers.

I will be volunteering in some of the poorest rural primary schools in Fiji, to deliver numeracy & literacy development aims, on behalf of the Fijian government. I will also be supporting children’s reading and writing abilities as well as improving their confidence, social skills and self-esteem.

Throughout my time in Fiji, I will be engaging in the following activities to help improve the lives of people living in rural Fiji:
Assisting primary school teachers
Organising one-to-one tuition
Leading kindergarten classes
Providing health advocacy
Pioneering extra-curricular activities and youth clubs
Implementing grass roots sports coaching and daily PE classes

I am aiming to raise £1,100 which goes directly to the Think Pacific Foundation and a third of which supports the long term charity aims in Fiji and ensures the sustainability of the youth and sports initiatives Think Pacific implement.

I will be funding all of my own flights to get myself out to Fiji.

Village schools normally consist of just one room in which a single teacher does her best to educate 20 students. Due to poverty, around 20% of children in villages miss out on primary education altogether. I hope that being able to volunteer will improve the education and lives of many Fijian children.

I would be incredibly appreciative for any donations to help me to volunteer in Fiji.

Thank You!

Harry
