I am embarking on an expedition to Kampala, Uganda in July 2017, for three weeks. I will volunteer along with my peers and dedicated charity workers to refurbish the ‘Living Hope Orphanage’, as well as teach, support and interact with the children. I am currently in the process of fundraising £3200 for this trip and the money raised will be used, partly to pay for my travel costs, but a majority of the funds will be used to pay for refurbishment materials for the orphanage and also provide resources to support the children through their education. Having spoken to people who have been in previous years, it is evident that the whole experience has been life changing and fulfilling for all the individuals who took part. The impoverished living conditions of the slum inhabitants has touched my heart and I intend to help make the children's living conditions better and change community lives in a meaningful way. I have currently raised £500 over the summer through mendhi/henna designs and nail art, but I would be extremely grateful for any donations, no matter how big or small; a few pounds can go a long way.
