Story
Hi, my name is Harvey and I am fundraising for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to improve the daily lives of some of the poorest communities in Africa.
In Summer 2019, I've been given the chance to spend 4 weeks working hands-on at Camp Tanzania with classmates from Lacon Childe School in Cleobury Mortimer. During this time, I'll be helping to transform dilipidated classrooms with poor sanitary conditions into a safe, clean and inspirational learning environment.
We'll also be getting stuck in constructing houses for impoverished families - many of whom cannot afford to put a roof over their head - and helping to safeguard the future of endangered wildlife. This will involve monitoring elephants, zebras and giraffes, and digging waterholes for these incredible species.
To help us get out to Tanzania, on 30th August 2018 myself and a school friend Charlie are taking on an ambitious bike ride, cycling 85 miles from Aberystwyth back home to Clee Hill. We would really appreciate anyone willing to sponsor us on this huge challenge!
I'll also be collaborating with local baking powder supplier Kudos Blends, who are hosting a cake baking competition. Our cakes will be sold in pubs and shops in Cleobury Mortimer, for anyone who would like to try them!
I can’t wait to learn more about the Tanzanian way of life on this amazing project! I’d really appreciate any donations you can kindly contribute, so that I can join the Lacon Childe team in making a real impact.

Camp Tanzania is a life-changing expedition organised by Camps International who provide 'ethical journeys with impact'.
