About Me:

Coming from Sudan and know what it is like to want to learn but be faced with obstacles preventing me from getting an education. I now find myself in a position where I am able to give something back to children in a similar situation and improve their education. I feel that every child should be able to access education and I would like the opportunity to play a small part in making this happen.

About The Charity:

African Adventures works with several schools in the coastal area of the Volta region. Whilst they are government-run schools, they are severely underfunded. In some classrooms, there are not enough desks for the number of students, meaning that children must take lessons sat on the floor. There is also a significant lack of resource material, particularly text books, which can present challenges in terms of teaching. The schools are in desperate need of funding and volunteer support – this is where our partnership starts.

African Adventures started working in Ghana in 2013, after a clear need for support was identified. Although government-run, the schools we work with do not receive enough government funding to allow them to maintain their facilities, so this is where we focus our support.

We make no grand claims that we are going to change the world but we know we are changing our partner projects for the better. The evidence proves it. We are not bothered about being the biggest – we are focused on trying to be the best.

Since African Adventures’ inception in 2009, we have recruited nearly 4,000 volunteers, made up of students, charity and trust members, and individual travellers, to support our community development initiatives. Our work would not be possible without the support of every one of our incredible volunteers.

We are now partnered with over 25 community projects across developing areas of Ghana, Kenya and Zanzibar and support just over 20,000 children.

You can help me to make a lasting and tangible difference.
