Story
The Hatfield Main pit closed in 2015. A group of miners formed Hatfield Main Colliery Heritage Association and they managed to get the two headgears Grade II listed so they could not be knocked down. Most of the site has been knocked down but we have two winding houses and a powerhouse and a fan house.
Our aim would be to turn this site into a heritage centre and a country park consisting of a conference centre and sports hall with a museum and antiques centre with small workshops for artisans and crafting at a reasonable price.
We need to crowdfund to raise capital to do a project viability study.

6 years agoWe have now raised £747 and the last donation came from a young lady that as far as I know has no connection with mining what so ever. We are on holiday in Gt Yarmouth at her bungalows but she obviously has a great social conscious and wishes us every success.
