    Story

The Haven Housing Trust is a small, Nottingham based, housing charity (charity number 1058283), providing supported accommodation for older homeless and unsuitably housed people in Nottingham. The charity was founded in 1996 by 26-year-old Rachael Jayne Brooks, who sadly died at the age of 34 in 2005.

The charity provides accommodation in Community Homes in and around the Forest Fields/Basford area of Nottingham, where a number of residents with a similar life-experience share a property. Housing criteria is that residents are over 50 years old, with a current probable average age of early sixties. Residents can stay for as long, or short, a period as suits them, with some residents currently having been with the charity since shortly after it was founded.

Each Christmas the charity aims to provide some small festive gifts and/or events for residents, ranging from a full communal Christmas meal, which is provided some years depending of facilities available and what is deemed appropriate given the residents in occupation at the time, to a package of festive goods for each resident. The photo shown is of a resident communal Christmas meal from some years ago.
