Bob is a devoted son, husband, father, and grandfather — the kind of man who always puts others before himself. If he thought he could help you, he’d give you his time without a second thought.

Earlier this year, Bob became unexpectedly unwell. After a long period of diagnosis he was admitted to hospital on Feb 5th and after emergency surgery, devastatingly, left paralysed from the chest down.

Since then, Bob has shown nothing but strength and determination. He’s thrown himself fully into rehabilitation — we’ve never seen anyone work harder. But despite his incredible efforts, Bob will be discharged from hospital, still facing the life-changing reality of being disabled & reliant on a wheelchair.

What we didn’t realise is that not all wheelchairs are the same. The standard ones just aren’t suitable for someone as active and driven as Bob. We want to get him a specialist wheelchair that is lightweight, so he can stay independent and continue his adaptive sport — but also can be fitted with a motor, allowing him to travel further afield and live more fully.

This kind of chair comes at a cost: £8,500.

To help make this possible, Bob’s eldest grandsons, Harry & Ollie, are taking on an incredible challenge: they will run a combined 100km throughout August! Although not officially taking part, they will be supported by the younger Grandkids, Evie, Joe, Jasper & Mabel

Every penny they raise will go directly to Bob’s wheelchair. If we’re lucky enough to exceed our target, extra funds will help with home adaptations Bob needs to live safely
