Story

Many amazing charities constantly have fundraising being done for them to help with research, training, and helping those in need, as well as overheads. As a family we wanted to raise some money to buy something that we could see would be used and would make a difference to many.

Applefields is York’s secondary school for young people with varying range of additional needs.

The students are at the heart of what they do, and with them they will help them to achieve their aspirations. If anybody will like to know more about how wonderful the students, staff and this school are please follow this link https://applefieldsschool.co.uk/

We are supporting Applefields School in their pursuit to raise funds for a new minibus by embarking on a gruelling 64 kilometre challenge that has to be walked and completed within 24 hours! The ambitious walk will take place on the weekend of 29th June. The current minibuses are fast approaching the end of their serviceable lives which will be hugely detrimental to the experiences we can offer the children. Our commitment stems from recognising the vital role that transportation plays in ensuring students have access to learning opportunities beyond the confines of the classroom. By rallying behind this initiative, we aim to contribute to the enhancement of the school's infrastructure, facilitating safe and efficient transportation for students to engage in enriching extracurricular activities, trips, visits and community outreach programs. Together, through our collective efforts, we can empower the school to continue fostering holistic development and providing invaluable experiences for its students.

As well as this being a challenge to help others, this is a personal challenge. Andy (head of the family) is retiring this year at the age of 64, linking in with the km needed to walk, and wanted to kick start his retirement with a physical and mental challenge. What better way to do it than lead his 4 children Dan, Hayley, Joe and Holly across the highest and widest part of the North Yorkshire Moors. One of the Uks oldest walking challenges from the marker stone at Cod Beck Resevoir near Osmotherly to Ravenscar (the bar in the Raven Hall hotel to be exact!!!!)

We pledge to raise a good chunk of money to help towards the cost of buying this necessity for inspirational human beings, who could teach us all alot.

Thank you to all who have taken the time to read this and for your donations. Because of you people we WILL make this happen together.
