Story

Cole is a beautiful 4 1/2 year old from Windermere, Cumbria.

We are hoping to raise funds for a life changing operation called SDR ( Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy) and post op treatment and therapy.

Cole was born at 27weeks 5days weighing 2lb 11. He had an awful start to life, Cole suffered a bleed on his brain, was ventilated, faught infections, had endless needles canulars and procedures and still required oxygen a couple of months later when we could bring him home.

This little boy was born FIGHTING and sadly his fight has continued. We noticed Cole wasnt meeting milestones and at about 9 months CP was suspected and later comfirmed. Cole has Spastic Quadriplegic Cerebral Palsy.

Despite Coles daily battles he has an amazing love for life. He loves to sing and dance, has a smile that lights up the room and a strengh and detemination that simply overwhelms us.

Cole is unable to sit, stand or walk unaided and gets about in his power chair. He needs help with all daily activities. The spacticity in Coles legs can be very uncomfortable. It has caused his right hip to fully dislocate so Cole now needs reconstructive surgery, and can cause very painful cramps that wake him at night.

SDR is a procedure that will reduce spacticity and massively improve Coles comfort and mobility. Unfortunately, although Cole would benefit greatly from SDR, he doesnt meet the criteria to have it funded by the NHS.

We’re hoping to raise £20000 for Coles surgery and aftercare, so that we can support Cole through his journey, help him reach his full potential, become as independant as possible and most importantly pain free.
