Story

'Hay Sports' is a group of members of the community that are working together to help raise much needed funds for the sports clubs that currently use Hay recreation ground. These clubs are part of the sole of our community and, without our help, would struggle to stay afloat. Ever increasing costs force each club to pay more and more for things such as rents, rates, ground maintenance, equipment, coaching, qualifications, even putting on tournaments and games, the list could go on.
Sport in general, whether it's a leisurely kick around or an aspiring professional athlete, has huge benefits to peoples health and wellbeing, both physically and mentally. People are becoming more and more aware that getting outside and doing some form of activity is paramount to living a happy and healthy life. We strongly believe that if these sorts of club didn't exist, in communities, that it would have a huge negative affect on our community.
To help raise money, Hay Sports, is organising a 24hr sport challenge! Showcasing over 17 different sports, that are available in or close to Hay, there's something for everyone no matter what your ability. It's happening on the 7th and 8th of September 2018 from 6pm to 6pm, starting and finishing at the sports pavilion. Come and get involved, whether it's taking part in one of the sports, spectating and encouraging or taking on the ultimate challenge of the full 24hrs! We'd love to see as many faces as possible. We suggest a minimum donation of £10 per person to take part. Details of all the sports are available on our posters or for more information or if you'd like to register to join in please contact Josie (07875000750) or Gareth(07974353121) or go to our facebook page, Hay Sports.
