Story

I'm raising £30,000 to pay for my sexual reassignment surgery. I am a 25 year old trans woman and my dysphoria regarding my downstairs is debilitating. Growing up I routinely considered taking a knife to myself, and now as an adult I'm actively having to avoid acknowledging that part of my body for the sake of my mental health as thinking too hard about it risks sending me back to that same dark place that nearly lead to me mutilating myself. The situation in UK is pretty dire. The waiting list to be seen by the NHS is years long and Tavistock routinely send you automatic opt out messages which you need to reply to within a certain amount of time or be kicked off of the waiting list, forcing you to start the wait all over again from the back of the queue. The political situation in this country leaves trans folks with the choice between a party which actively wants us exterminated, and one which stabs us in the back the minute they think it will get them more votes. Safe to say that I am not confident that I will get this on the nhs or that this situation is likely to improve any time soon.

I hate having to ask for this. I am generally quite a proud person and knowing there are many others like me makes me feel awful asking for support, but the simple reality is I'm not going to be able to live a happy and normal life until I've had this procedure. Anything you can spare is greatly appreciated
