Story

The UK On-Site Calibration Team and members of the Engineering Service Team are preparing to set off on a 100km walk raising money for three important charities - British Heart Foundation, the MS Society, and Macmillan Cancer Support.

The walkers, including Calvin Hayles, Joe McDonnell, Andy George, Clement Dumont and Thomas North, plan to use our two volunteering days to complete the task. On 15th July we plan to walk from Birmingham to our Warwick office, and in September we will walk from Birmingham to Burton.

This event is more than just a physical challenge; it is a testament to our collective commitment to making a meaningful difference in the lives of those affected by heart disease, multiple sclerosis, and cancer. Each step we take symbolises our solidarity with those battling these diseases and our hope for a healthier future. The walk is a demonstration of our company's values as well as showing empathy, resilience, and a commitment to social responsibility.

For some of us, these causes hit close to home. We have colleagues, friends, and family members who have been affected by heart disease, MS, or cancer. This walk gives us an opportunity to honour their struggles and triumphs, and to contribute in a tangible way to the fight against these illnesses. Find out more about the charities we’ll be supporting below.

Training for a 100km walk requires dedication, teamwork, and perseverance. Over the past few months, our team has come together. This journey has not only strengthened our physical endurance but has also fostered a deeper sense of camaraderie and purpose within our company.

We invite you to join us in supporting these incredible causes. You can donate here and your donations will directly benefit the British Heart Foundation, the MS Society, and Macmillan Cancer Support, helping to fund vital research and provide essential services. Every contribution, no matter the size, makes a significant impact.

On the day of the walk, we will be united in our mission, driven by the stories and experiences of those we are walking for. Every donation we receive will propel us forward, knowing that our efforts are contributing to life-changing research and support services. Thank you for your support.

Why We Walk

Heart disease, multiple sclerosis (MS), and cancer are illnesses that touch the lives of millions around the world. Each of these conditions brings with it a unique set of challenges, impacting not only the individuals diagnosed but also their families and communities. By supporting these three charities, we aim to contribute to the ongoing efforts to provide care, advance research, and ultimately find cures for these devastating diseases.

British Heart Foundation: Heart disease is one of the leading causes of death globally. The British Heart Foundation is dedicated to funding research to beat heartbreak from heart and circulatory diseases. Their work has been instrumental in pioneering treatments and improving patient outcomes.

MS Society: Multiple sclerosis is a lifelong condition that can cause serious disability, affecting the brain and spinal cord. The MS Society is committed to funding ground-breaking research, providing support, and campaigning for better care for those affected by MS.

Macmillan Cancer Support: Cancer affects millions of lives every year. Macmillan Cancer Support offers essential services such as information, community care, and financial assistance to individuals and families dealing with cancer. Their goal is to help everyone with cancer live life as fully as they can.
