Story
Why Headstrong?
We’re Dan and Dave—two lifelong mates who’ve both been deeply affected by cancer. We’re on a mission to raise awareness and vital funds for brain cancer, the biggest cancer killer of children and adults under 40 in the UK.
It’s an honour to be building Headstrong together. I’m incredibly proud of what Dan is driving forward: supporting others while tackling a cancer that desperately needs more attention and funding.
Last year, after an unbelievable nine‑year fight, we were told that Dan might have only weeks or months left. But in true Dan fashion, he bounced back. Thanks to clinical trials and the right support, he’s still here. He’s one of the fortunate few.
For most people diagnosed with brain cancer, the outlook is devastating. Funding is limited, access to trials is inconsistent, and too many cancers continue to be left behind. We want to help change that.
Brain cancer receives just 1% of national cancer funding, yet 87% of people diagnosed with a high‑grade brain tumour don’t survive beyond five years. Dan’s survival shows what’s possible when research, trials, and innovation are available—and it inspires our mission.
Headstrong is more than a charity; it’s part of Dan’s legacy. Our vision is to create a brand that is bold, inclusive, and unapologetically determined—reflecting Dan’s larger‑than‑life personality while driving meaningful change in cancer research and care.
We tackle brain cancer head‑on by raising awareness of the funding gap, building a nationwide community of support, and investing in pioneering research, patient care, and fair access to services.
Our Purpose
We exist to fight brain cancer with courage, community, and change.
Raise awareness of brain cancer and the disproportionate lack of research funding.
Build community by connecting patients, families, and friends—sharing stories and strengthening support networks.
Fund progress by supporting pioneering research, clinical trials, and better access to care.
