Story
On July 4th 2020, a day which symbolises unity and thanksgiving for many, our beloved Imani Allaway Muir was taken from us in the most dreadful way.
Imani was murdered and shot outside a childrens playground at the young age of 22.
His mother, Keetha, a dear friend of mine, was near the scene and watched helplessly as they tried to revive her eldest son but to no avail.
Keetha has been left broken by this grief, as we all have, but her life and the life of his family will never be the same.
As Imani was laid to rest on September 3rd 2020, his grave has been a place of solidarity for his loved ones. A place of peace and connection with him for his mother and siblings. I've watched daily as she puts up posts of his graveside and how attentive she is at keeping it a place Imani would be proud of. Without fail she is there everyday spending time with him.
I spoke with her the other day and she mentioned her worry at having to raise money for his gravestone to place there next year. She mentioned how much it would cost and I was concerned at how stressful this will be for her. Keefa said, one day when she is laid to rest, she would like to be layed right beside Imani. Again this is going to cost a huge amount. No mother expects to bury her son at such a young age. Because of this, I know she was not prepared for this and I would like to help her with some of the burden financially.
Keetha is one of the most loving mothers I know. She dotes on her little family and this has been stolen from her too quickly.
I have decided to try and raise some money for her by cutting off all my hair which I've been growing for a few years now.
I am going to cut it on Jan 1st 2021. This day is the fresh start to a new year that I hope will be more merciful to her.
I will try to raise as much as I can between now and New years day and I will be donating it all towards this cause.
I will upload a video at 5pm on 1st Jan 2021 of the hair cut.
Please donate as you feel led in support. ❤🧡
