Story

In May 2021, at just 27 years old, our amazing friend Heather was diagnosed with a rare form of Medullary Thyroid Cancer. Since then, she has been fiercely fighting with strength and determination. Despite all the obstacles, Heather remains a devoted wife to Tom and an incredible mother to their two young children—five-year-old Scarlet and baby Tommy, who is just under one. She’s the kind of person who always puts others first, never asking for anything in return, which is why we’re now asking for your help.

Heather's latest PET scan revealed a new tumour in her chest, and she now faces an urgent need for further treatment. The NHS have been incredible and we are so appreciative of all of their support, care and treatment to date, however, as Heathers type of cancer is so rare and aggressive, they are dealing with the unknown and at present, are unfortunately struggling to find a treatment option for her.

Therefore, we are at a point where private treatment options (in the UK, Europe & USA) need to be explored. With your support, we hope to raise enough funds for private consultations and treatments that could provide Heather with more options in her fight against this awful disease.

Heather’s Journey

Since her diagnosis in 2021, Heather has undergone 5 major surgeries to remove her thyroid and surrounding lymph nodes that had metastasised. In late 2022, she completed an intense six-week course of radiotherapy, hoping to stop the spread of the cancer and return to a more normal life with her family.

However, within 18 months, Heather's calcitonin levels have increased significantly, and recent scans have shown the presence of a new tumour as well as surrounding suspicious lymph nodes. The next steps are uncertain with doctors considering the possibility of surgery, but the risks are high, and there’s no guarantee of success.

Heather has been told that chemotherapy, immune therapy and/or further radiotherapy are not viable treatment options for her type of cancer. Due to the cancer now being in her lymphatic system, it is classified as being incurable, so her goal is to find alternative treatments/drug trials either in the UK, Europe or USA to slow down the growth of the cancer which could give her a good quality of life for as long as possible!

Through it all, Heather has remained an inspiration to everyone around her—facing each challenge with courage, positivity, and fierce determination. We are incredibly proud of her, and we want to help provide her with as many treatment options as possible.

How You Can Help

We’re calling on the generosity of friends, family and kind-hearted supporters to help fund the next steps in Heather's treatment. Any contribution, no matter how small, will go directly towards giving Heather access to funds that will aid her treatment and provide support to her and her family.

Please help us to help this family and our beautiful, caring and one of a kind friend! We love you Hev ❤️
