Story

Help save Hectors House Crete.

After 10 years on rented land, Hectors House Crete has been served an eviction notice by the Crete Forestry Department, without them providing a location to relocate their Animal Sanctuary to (as is their duty).

So the shelter desperately needs to raise the funds to purchase new land and to construct a new sanctuary.

A place to finally call, A Home of their Own!

Will you help to give these Rescue Angels a safe place to go to, on the path to finding their forever homes?

Please, can you support Hectors House Crete?

Hectors House Crete is Crowdfunding with a target of €20,000 for the following:

* €11,000 - Purchase of the new land.

* €3,000 - Land preparation incl utilities.

* €4,000 - Construction of pens, sheds, fencing, etc.

* €1,500 - Kennels & wet weather shelter.

* €500 - Feeding Supplies & Equipment.

Any amount that you can spare to donate, will bring them closer to securing a future for all their Furry Angels. Thank you.

Hectors House Crete's Appeal:

Due to Greek bureaucracy, in February of 2020, Hectors House Crete was served notice by the Crete Forestry Department to vacate the land that they have been renting for over ten years. As part of this departments legal duty, a suitable plot of land was found to relocate the sanctuary to and so work commenced during Summer on levelling this land, laying foundations and installing fences, spending a total of €3000 (of Sanctuary funds). Then in September, the Forestry Department (with newly appointed board members) reneged on this land allocation, without providing an explanation or any other alternative. And yet are still expecting Hectors House Crete to vacate their current premises.

Basically pocketing the sanctuary's money, profiting from their foundation work and still wanting to make the shelter's 60 dogs and 30 cats homeless.

How can we let this stand?

How is Hectors House finding a solution:

Hectors House has been offered the sale of a 5000 sq metre plot of land for just €11,000, that would suit all their animal sanctuary needs and so much more. However, time is of the essence and this location won't be available forever. This is why they need all the help they can get, to secure a new home for all their rescue babies.

Beyond securing the purchase of this land, there is still, all of the land preparation costs (again), construction costs, shelter costs, relocation costs and of course, Greek legal costs.

But with your help, Hectors House Crete can make this new sanctuary a reality!!! Stand with us to disallow the Crete Forestry Department from making our furry friends go back to a life on the streets.

PLEASE Donate to our campaign.

ABOUT HECTORS HOUSE CRETE:

Hectors House Crete is a not for profit organisation, situated in the hills above the village of Vathi, near Agios Nikolaos, Crete. It was founded by Sue Hawkins in 2010. Their mission is to help stray dogs and cats of the local region by providing them with a safe environment until they can be adopted, going onto their loving forever homes. Several of the dogs and cats however, are unable to be re-homed, as they have often come from terrible and traumatic circumstances, suffering neglect, abuse and abandonment. These animals will always have care and a safe forever home here at Hectors House Crete, as they deserve.

To find out more about Hectors House, visit their website here: http://www.hectorshousecrete.org/

Hectors House Crete is always in need of support for their ongoing costs of feeding their cats and dogs, veterinary treatment, neutering and upkeep of the shelter. You can help them further by making donations directly through their website above also.
