In 2016 I began helping sick and injured hedgehogs in my home on an extremely small scale. Then, 1 year later, I made the decision to invest in equipment allowing me to expand my care and increase the number of hedgehogs that would benefit.

After considerable investment into the care of these little prickly creatures we took the step to become a registered charity in February 2020 to solidify our ongoing commitment to the rescue and rehabilation of our local hedgehogs.

We are currently at the stage where we are able to provide high quality care for our hedgehogs which includes veterinary pods, heat pads, incubators and other necessary equipment. With the help of your donations we have also been able to extend this vital equipment to our on-call volunteers who give up their time each evening to collect and care for vulnerable hedgehogs overnight.

In 2017, we took in 121 hedgehogs and this has increased year on year to well over 500 in 2021 and 2022.

With all the increases in cost for medication, food and in electricity to keep them warm and clean we are increasingly dependant on donations to continue our work.

The increase in the demand for care means that we can have at least 30 hedgehogs in at any one time and this increase at peak times to well over 40. This is in addtion to those with our foster carers, which can be upto 70 at any one time..

We thank you for your support and all your valued donations will go towards the ongoing running costs for the sanctuary.
