Story

Heed is a local community project, designed to give a voice to Women who have been affected by sexual violence of any kind. We aim to provide an open, safe and relaxed space where women can choose to share their experiences without pressure or judgement. Heed commits to bringing women who have been subject to sexual harassment, sexual assault, sexual abuse and rape together to provide peer support in an informal environment.

What do we need to raise funds for?

We aim to raise enough to rent out a safe, community space weekly, for a minimum term of 6 months. We want to provide a consistent place for women to discuss and share their experiences and feelings, helping them manage day to day life.

We also need to raise funds to cover general costs of running each meeting (food and beverages), as well as creating materials like leaflets and posters to market our community project and promote awareness of Heed.

We intend to host fundraisers in the local area, including bakesales and craft fairs.

Why is this group so important?

There are few charitable organisations within the area that offer support with these issues; those that do often involve extensive waiting lists and eligibility criteria. We want to provide a relaxed, drop-in style environment open to all women, in which they can come and meet individuals who have been through similar experiences. We're not counsellers or psychologists- we simply want to create a space where women can support one another.

No waiting lists, no sign-ups, no forms, no judgement. Just a warm, friendly environment where women can feel free to chat openly.

Please help us to support this worthy cause. Donate now!
