Story

In less than 2 weeks, I will attempt to swim Coniston Lake... all 5.25miles!

Last year we concentrated on raising funds for our 3 year old daughter, Lyra’s, ongoing treatments but now we want to say thank you to two special places in our ❤️

So we have decided to split any sponsorship 3 ways between The Movement Centre in Oswestry; Greenhall Special Needs Nursery; and Lyra Can

As I attempt to swim end-to-end at Coniston on the 14th July - in my cossie or the technical term ‘skins’ - we are asking for donations to support these amazing causes!

The Movement Centre and Greenhall Special Needs Nursery are fantastic places, both give kids a real chance to progress regardless of their physical or mental ability. Lyra currently attends Greenhall nursery, and earlier this year graduated from the Movement Centre‘s treatment programme.

The money raised via Lyra Can has already made a massive difference to Lyra’s life and her ongoing progress. It was unclear if she would ever walk but now she runs about with her big brother, Joseph. We still do physio nearly everyday and are targetting her verbal and non-verbal communication, her chewing and trying to get answers to the cause of her muscle spasms.

I’ve been training for months, and been swimming in the open water since Feb with water temperatures down to a chilly 3.6degrees but I’m hoping Coniston will be around 16degrees, but with depths of 56m the lake could have lots of cold spots... or just be cold. My aim is to swim it in around 4 and a half hours but we’ll see.

Please think about sponsoring me to help these great causes!
