My friend has recently broken up with her long term partner and is really struggling to maintain her independence. She suffers from Ehlers Danlos Syndrome which causes her severe mobility problems: she is wheelchair bound and also suffers from severe anxiety, agoraphobia, heart and kidney problems. She is really struggling on her own looking after her autistic daughter and although she is on enhanced rate PIP for both components, all her money is currently going on help around the home and taxi fayres etc. I think if she was able to get herself a mobility scooter or a deposit together for a house closer to her daughter's school it would drastically help her maintain her independence.
