Story

For those who know me, for the last 2 years, I have volunteered and dedicated my time to stray cats in Kefalonia, Greece.

This time we came across a very skinny looking dog, that was chained in a field, clearly for a long time, without any fresh food and water. She was covered in ticks. Despite all of this, she was happy to see us and very gentle. We decided we cannot leave her there, but even with removing her from this field, there were not many options for where to take her afterwards and how to cover all the costs. So I have decided I cannot let her live a life in a small cage at an overcrowded struggling shelter or be returned to the streets. I decided I will share my home with her and make sure she enjoys the rest of her life in the best possible way.

But she is not a healthy dog either. That is why I am kindly asking for your help. All the money donated to Hela, will go to one of her current carers Cathy in Kefalonia, to pay for many vet bills, that include blood testing for various infectious disease, her treatment for Leishmania and ongoing monitoring, and her boarding at the kennels, until she can be fit for vaccination and transport to my home in Croatia. All the remaining donations that will not be needed for Hela’s care, will then go to Kefalonia Animal Trust, whom I worked with for yours and who are responsible for saving many Kefalonian street animals and organizing multiple Trap and Neuter programs for both cats and dogs! So please help us in caring for this little dog that had a bad start in life, so she can have a chance at recovery and a new future!

Thank you kindly, Maja
