Story
I have a real passion for South Africa.
After many visits it has really made an impression on me.
In particular, The Helderberg academy which is helping Children from some of the most poorest and dangerous Townships.
It teaches Children life skills through Sports. This life is so different to what a lot of us could ever imagine. For example after a child has been coming to the academy a set time. The academy will try to provide trainers for the child, but the academy has to take them back each day otherwise the parents would simply sell them for possibly Alcohol or Drugs.
We use the phrases:
I'm Brasic.
I'm Skint.
I haven't got a pot to pee in.
I hate these!!!!!! Can you afford your rent, food, clothes, that coffee, beer, take away???? Then you are none of the above!!
These Kids live in a tin shack and have nothing!
Helderberg Quote: We are a non-profit organisation going into underprivileged communities around Somerset-West, South Africa. Our mission is to teach life skills to children and teenagers through sports. We use sports such as rugby, football, netball and more to teach how to deal with struggles, triumphs, and defeat temptations.
