£540raised of £780 target by 18 supporters

Weʼve raised £540 to have a permanent memorial bench for Lorna Inglis at the British Motor Museum at Gaydon.

    Gaydon, Warwickshire, United Kingdom
Funded on Wednesday, 1st February 2017

    What is crowdfunding?

Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered charity.

The page owner is responsible for the distribution of funds raised.

As everyone knows, Lorna died in August this year after an amazingly brave fight with cancer. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends throughout her life and illness, we will all remember her laughing, having fun, and being a good friend to us all.

One of the ways in which so many of us enjoyed Lorna's friendship and company was at motoring events, driving holidays and social meetings, and her loss has left a big gap in the smart car community.

We thought it was be nice to honour her memory and have somewhere we all visit from time to time where we can think about the fun times we shared with this remarkable lady.

The British Motor Museum have kindly given us permission to buy a bench to put on the side lawn near where we have parked up for meets in recent years. To be suitable for public use it has to be sturdy and have a decent concrete hard standing. It will also have a commemorative plaque dedicating it to Lorna. This means it is not going to be cheap, but will last for years to come and no doubt be enjoyed my many. We feel sure that Lorna would approve "doing the job properly", and Jim is happy that we go ahead with this as a smart community.

If you can make a contribution to this fundraising, please do, and let's have somewhere to sit and smile back on happy times. If we raise more money than is needed for this, any excess will be passed on to St. Peters Hospice in Bristol who looked after Lorna.

      Update from the Page owner

Hi Everyone. The fundraising page has closed today. Along with a couple of donors who are outside the on-line system, we are delighted to say that WE HAVE RAISED ENOUGH to buy the bench and have a permanent memorial to Lorna at Gaydon. Huge thanks for every contribution made. We will spread the word about installation etc as soon as we know more, and will liaise with Jim over a suitable inscription. Thank you again, and love to all. Helen & Geoff
