Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered charity.
The page owner is responsible for the distribution of funds raised.
I'm 36yrs old, I have been diagnosed with many progressive life limiting medical conditions! I have Intestinal Failure and I'm fed total Parenteral nutrition (TPN) feeds that are administered via my Hickman line (a Hickman line is a line inserted into the main artery of my heart), I'm connected to TPN for 14hrs every night 7 nights a week and this has been the only thing that's kept me alive for the last 5yrs, as my stomach is totally paralysed so I can't digest any food. I also have a condition called Muscular Dystrophy and this condition causes severe muscle weakness and as a result I use a electric wheelchair to mobilise around my home and when outdoors. My muscular Dystrphy has caused severe Dysphagia which basically means I have severe difficulties with swallowing and as a result I often am admitted to hospital and ITU due to pneumonia as I aspirate as anything I drink or even excess saliva I produce causes me to aspirate, so instead of being able to swallow my saliva, fluids I drink, a lot of the things I swallow end up leaking into my lungs and this makes me very unwell. I have also been diagnosed with Epilepsy, Fowler Syndrome (damage to nerves of my bladder so I have a supra-pubic catheter in-situ and awaiting surgery to have a urostomy), I have Gastroparesis, pseudo obstruction, cluster headaches, Endometriosis, Dysautonomia, Kidney reflux, kidney stones, Ehlers Danlos Syndrome Type 3, MCAS, Spinal Curvature, Atrial Fibrillation, Superventricular Tachycardia (SVT), Anaemia & B12 deficiency, Asthma, Arthritis, the list goes on...
Life for me is very challenging having to deal with so many medical conditions and living in constant pain everyday and is why I really need your help in raising money to fund my new Electric Wheelchair. The current Wheelchair I have is an electric wheelchair that is provided by the NHS (I'm very grateful to have my electric wheelchair from the NHS), however due to severity of my muscle wastage and how very fragile and unstable my joints and muscles have deteriorated over the last 6 months, I really do need a electric wheelchair that will support my fragile, weak body and provide me with a electric wheelchair that will enable me to be able to go out and enjoy the quality of life I have left. I love going to the beach but in my current NHS wheelchair, I am in constant pain due to my current NHS wheelchair being a very basic chair. I require a electric wheelchair that will have a custom made seat/moulded cushion that will provide me with all the support my body needs, my new wheelchair will also enable me to go on the beach on the sand so I don't have to be left on the promenade away from my family and friends, I can actually be on the beach and be in the company of all my family and friends and also be able to walk my dog on the beach, this is something I haven't been able to do for 5yrs now. My new electric wheelchair will really transform my life and enable me to do all the things I have wanted to do instead of being left on the sideline as I can't access the beach. Another essential feature my new electric wheelchair will have is to enable me to raise the height of my chair to enable me to reach items that are high up in shops or even to be at a higher level that when it comes to ordering a simple everyday coffee from Costa's, trust me I've lost count how many times I've been ignored as nobody can see me behind the counter in a coffee shop! To be able to raise the height of my wheelchair is something I will find so life changing as the frustration that comes as a result of not being seen when I'm in my NHS wheelchair or not being able to reach clothes to find my size on the rails in shops etc. is so very frustrating. I really do need this new wheelchair, I also will have a IV pole drip stand attached to my wheelchair so I can hang my TPN feeds and or IV fluids to my wheelchair as at present I'm having to carry my medical equipment and TPN rucksack on my lap which is very heavy as its 3litres I'm carrying on my lap each day! I truly hope you can help me fund my new electric wheelchair and enable me to have a better quality of life from my new wheelchair.
