Story

On 9th June 2018, I was taking part in the Peak District 6 Dales- 27 mile-Challenge. Unfortunately, Pure Challenge have ceased trading so the event has been cancelled. My friends and I are still going to do the challenge but over two days. I have managed to get my entry fee and car parking ticket money back so I will donate this £50 to this cause. In July 2018 I may climb the Yorkshire 3 peaks to make up for not doing the 6 Dales Challenge. I am raising money for the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital, Ward 84.

In the new year, my friend’s beautiful 9 year old boy, Ted Taylor, was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia. He is currently receiving treatment on Ward 84, a specialist paediatric oncology/haematology centre, that has already become a home-from-home during long inpatient stays both for intensive chemotherapy and for the complications arising from it. The Ward 84 team work tirelessly to keep each child feeling like a child rather than just a cancer patient; with a dedicated play team, school, and parent facilities too. Money raised will help to continue and expand this work to make the daily lives of cancer patients and their families a little easier to bear.

Ted loves trains, playing the violin and of course Mathematics (like his Mum and Dad). Ted’s Mum, Rebecca, used to work with me at Rossall School and he used to walk past my classroom, every day, on his way to nursery. He always hid behind his Mum, when I waved at him, but in his own house he is much more confident.

I am personally funding race entry, all travel and hotel expenses so 100% raised goes to the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital.
