Story
The Friends of English Martyrs School Association do an amazing job of supporting our children. From painting parts of the school during the holidays to providing discos, film nights and competitions for the children, they do so much to enhance the children's time at school. It's not just about the money that they raise, but the social opportunities that they provide that makes them such an essential part of our school community.
I'm aiming to complete a 10K inflatable run, to put a bit back into their funds after their fantastic support for the eco-build. Also, on behalf of the staff, I'd like to show our appreciation for what they do. Another reason is that this is about 'practising what we preach' for the children. We talked at the beginning of January about it being a year to make bold steps, to try something that really challenges us ... well, for me, that's running! This is a sport that I've wanted to get into for years but have always found just too challenging - there have been many times when I've started a running regime with great intentions which have fallen by the wayside when it's got tough. Lately, with launching our new behaviour policy, we've been talking about 'being our best', and the children have given me and each other some great advice about keeping on going and being determined.
So on May 19th (while other people are happily watching the Royal Wedding!) I'll be running 10K whilst also attempting obstacles such as the Crash Bang Wallop, the Ripple Runner and the Bish Bash! I'm finding the training hard going and will probably have jelly legs for a week afterwards, but I hope that you will be able to support me to raise more money for the Friends and also to join me in the message to the children that to be our best, we have to keep on trying!
