Many of you still know me as Helen Brady, but I got married in April and I'm now Helen Wilson.

Whilst basking in the Summer sunshine and leaning forward to apply sun lotion this summer I noticed a dimple in my right breast. Normally I'd ignore this type of thing as 'getting old' but based on a friend who'd recently being diagnosed with breast cancer I decided to have it investigated, just in case. This small dimple turned out to be a cancerous tumour, and on further investigation two further tumours were found, it was in both.

I've had my operation and now waiting to start chemotherapy.

It is well known that during chemotherapy you lose your hair, and I have a thick long mane. Instead of watching it gradually fall out I've decided to make a positive out of a negative and have it cut off for charity before my own treatment starts. I intend to raise money for braving the short hair/crew cut (I've NEVER had short hair my entire life) and donating my ponytail to a kids cancer wig charity (Little Princess Trust).

My wonderful hubby Will Wilson is also pledging to brave the shave, both on his head and his beard.

If I raise less than £1500 I will have my hair cut like my son, if I raise over £1500 I will brave the crew cut!!!
