Story
Myself and my friend, Anna, are running the Manchester half-marathon on Sunday 20th May to raise money for two different cancer units.
Cancer has probably affected everyone who is reading this or at least affected someone you know. 2017 was the year it came after my extended family and it meant business. In January my 30 year old cousin began treatment to fight cervical cancer. One year on and after intensive treatment followed by a hysterectomy she has beaten it! In February 2017 the 6 year old son of another cousin was diagnosed with Leukaemia. After 9 months of horribly intensive and at times life-threatening treatment he too has beaten it - however he now faces the challenge of 'maintenance' chemo for a further 3 years so the battle still rages on! As you can see from the photo both of them have kept smiling through it all!
While the challenge of a half-marathon is nothing compared to what they have been through it is none the less still somewhat of a challenge for us and therefore we hope to raise some money for the two different cancer units that have done so much to help, treat and support my cousins over the last 12 months and continue to do so now. Any amount you can sponsor is much appreciated and will help with ignoring the knee and ankle aches on those training runs.
