We are a new Community Interest Company (non - profit) , called `On the Out`, created and staffed by men and women who have experienced life in prison.
We offer peer led, practical and emotional support to people who are returning - or who have returned - to their community after time inside. We understand the barriers and pressures faced by peers, as we have `been there`, and believe that sharing our experience will guide others towards a more positive future.
We are trained in all aspects of support, and have established excellent links with other organisations and services who are keen to support us in our work. We are able to work with issues such as housing, employment, benefits, mental health, family law issues, addiction - or emotional support as people find their feet.
We have created our project through the goodwill of others. All staff members are volunteers, and many key resources have been given to us free of charge.
But....we desperately need a little additional help as we set up our base. We have no funding for things like printer ink (we also need a printer!), stamps, paper - small things, but essential to the support we are offering.
