    Story

From 23-26 August 2017, leading guitarists from around the world will descend on Helston, Cornwall for the inaugural Hellys International Guitar Festival.

The festival is about concerts, lectures and demonstrations... but it's also about community. To make it accessible to all sections of society, we already let under 16s attend everything for free... and now we want to put on extras to make each day fun for children.

Over the course of the four days, two prize-winning artists will be providing rather different services for children: leading face-painter Jenny Marquis, (http://www.brushstrokesfacepaint.com) brings her extraordinary talent to Helston on the 23rd and 24th; and the 25th and 26th see top illustrator Russell Ayto (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Russell_Ayto) lead children's art workshops.

In addition, we will provide free guitar lessons for everyone, and for children the additional opportunity of guitar orchestra workshops with the great Danish guitarist Carsten Grøndahl - plus the chance to perform together in front of an audience on the last day of the festival.

We want to focus on young people and give them great experiences both in terms of listening to and taking part in music... but we also want them to enjoy the in-between bits, and come back for more.

Your donation will help us keep children involved in music - and help them become well-rounded grown-ups.
